Our family room got a major update: We got a new entertainment unit!
Previously, our TV stood on Arielle’s Ikea bookshelf that we brought from our old house. This is all we had for the past 8 months to prop up our TV and keep my giraffe friend company. Awkward!
We got our new entertainment unit from Ikea, too. Not because I’m married to Ikea, I just really like their storage solutions, clean lines, and affordability. Who can argue with that? This is part of their family of the Hemnes storage solution, which was great because it was highly customizable. Just beware – Ikea is in the process of discontinuing certain Hemnes items so it’s hard to tell if and when certain pieces will be available again. Yikes! For example, we wanted the bridge that connects the two bookcases across the top, but it’s not available. Boo. But I still think it looks good! Notice that poor giraffe friend got backed into the corner…well, at least he has a view out of the window:
Now I have to fill it with stuff! This supposed to be the fun part, but I’m hesitant because I don’t want it to become cluttered. I guess this is a perfect challenge for me since I stepping into my new role at work doing Visual/Digital Merchandising. Shh! I’m super excited about it, but I don’t want to say anything until it’s finalized. More to come on that later…
I started collecting some accessories this past week. It can get expensive really fast, especially since there are so many shelves to fill. So I started with 3 G’s: Gift cards, Goodwill, and Good deals. I like the idea of white accessories and pops teal and orange…then I realized that it matched the color scheme of my blog. Hehehe! I guess that’s what makes me happy!
