Before Arielle was born, I made a vow to myself and made all my hairstylists promise not to let me cut my beautiful, long hair like some women do when they start having kids. Why do women do that? It makes them look older and takes away the sexy-factor. It’s certainly not less maintenance because you actually have to style short hair, whereas long hair can quickly be thrown into a ponytail or bun and still look decent.
Don’t get me wrong, there are some celeb moms who have super cute short hair:
And then it happened. Shortly after Zavier was born, I had the uncontrollable urge to cut my hair. Honestly, I think it’s the wacky hormones that makes women want to cut their hair when they have kids. That’s the only logical explanation I have as to why I felt so strongly about wanting to chop it off. So I went with the Posh Spice inspired mommy-do and have been rockin’ it for over a year now.
I thought it looked pretty chic, but my mom and closest friends have had no problem telling me that I have a “mom” haircut which made me feel frumpy. Then, I started seeing all these girls with cute braids and up-dos and started missing my long hair. Now I’m ready to grow it out again and even cancelled my last hair appointment. It’s gotten to that midway point where it’s not short and cute, not long and sexy – just medium and awk-waaaaaaard. Yuck!
Did you cut your hair when you were pregnant or right after you had kids? Or did you change any part of your style after you had kids? Leave a comment below – I’d love to hear it!
Haha I just found how to comment! I already left my comment on the FB post page of this page.
