Thrifty Entryway Decor and Inspiration

Yay, I finally decorated my entryway! It’s been awhile since I shared a home decor post. Since owning this home for a little over two years, I’ve learned that decorating is a long, drawn-out process because it’s expensive! It takes me forever because I’m indecisive and cheap. The good news is that I’m patient and I’m thrifty. So here’s how my entryway decor turned out:

I started out with this Pinterest board for inspiration and gravitated towards things like:

Follow Mommy A-Z’s board Entryway on Pinterest.

This white console table:

These woven storage baskets:

The grey tones with the plum accent in this entryway:

This cherry blossom tree painting:

Over the course of six months, I slowly started acquiring things that reminded me of my inspiration board:

I scored all these things at over 50% off at sales or clearance prices:

  • Console Table – Home Goods $99
  • Woven Basket – Home Goods $16
  • Glass Jars – Sears $10
  • Cherry Blossom Light – Kirkland’s $20
  • Birds on a Wire Canvas Art – Kirkland’s $30

The painting of the birds on a wire makes me happy. All the colors match the palette throughout my home – grey, blue, plum, and cream.

I was hoping to get a lamp, but holy crap – those are ridiculously expensive! Then I scored this cherry blossom tree light at a local Kirkland’s that was closing. I think it gives my entryway a little character.

My husband asked me why I bought a little Christmas tree. LOL!

I think it makes the space look warm and inviting.

So there you have it. This is the first thing you’ll see when you walk into our home. (You’ll also be greeted by a scruffy white dog with no teeth, a curious little girl with glasses, a little boy with a dirty face, and a crying baby.)

Thanks for checking out my entryway! Don’t forget to follow me on Pinterest!

  1. I love it! It looks like such a warm and inviting space! We don’t have our entryway decorated at all. We live on the second story of an old Victorian home. When you walk through the door downstairs, you are greeted by our “garage” of bikes and sports equipment. At the top of the stairs we’ve got a little landing, but right now we’re using as storage too. This house has zero closet space!

    • I bet the the Victorian itself has a lot of character! I would fancy living in a home like that (with or without storage!) Nothing but cookie cutter homes over here!

  2. I love it!! My entryway is boring, we have nothing there.
So, now I guess I need an inspiration board.
I love your Birds On a Wire painting and the mini Christmas tree. πŸ™‚
    Beautiful job!

  3. Love this! I have yet to decorate our hallway and this is giving me some ideas, that might be a project I can put on my list this summer. I was considering a mirror but hanging a picture looks great too, I might have to think about which one I prefer now. Thanks for sharing!

    • I have a big mirror over the piano, which sits directly across from the entryway table. There’s also a mirror on the wall next to it. Too many mirrors! That’s why I went with the painting and the birds make me happy!

  4. It looks great! Very warm and inviting! Great job, mama!

  5. Great job Grace! Luv it!!!

  6. Oh, I just ADORE that painting! The colors are great and the image makes me smile! The addition of that little light-up tree also great for the evenings. Nice work!

  7. That Birds on a Wire art is EVERYTHING! I love the style and the meaning behind it for you (I call Soph my little bird too…especially when she’s being weird…my ‘strange bird’.) πŸ™‚ I have an entryway board as well because I think the entryway is a MUST style place. It doesn’t need to be expensive or elaborate but somewhere to drop your keys/change/mail is essential. As the first place guests see, it must be clean and inviting and yours is EXACTLY that! I love it. πŸ™‚

    • LOL at “strange bird”! When my son is throwing a tantrum, I call him my “angry bird.” I’m going to check out your entryway board on pinterest!

  8. I love the “Christmas tree!” We have been working on our entryway lately – we put up hooks for coats. We both just can’t wait for winter to end because the entry way becomes a mud room. Can you imagine that 9 months or so out of the year, we don’t need ALL this heavy gear? I can’t even remember.

    • It’s supposed to be spring, so you should be able to pack away all that heavy gear soon! I love the Christmas tree, too. I light it up every night!

  9. I love it Gracielle! So pretty and welcoming! The bird art is adorable too – great job on the decorating!

  10. I love everything!!! So glad you found time to decorate a part of your home. I’m too behind in making our house pretty. Hehe. I love that lamp, the painting, and most especially the woven baskets! My husband doesn’t understand the need to buy the baskets. I just hope he gets what I mean! LOL

    • Tell your husband that the baskets make great storage! It’s funny that you mentioned the basket because I had to remove the tag before taking the pictures and it said “Made in the Philippines.” hehehe

      • Then he would tell me, we have lots of boxes here to keep our things (he means the boxes for appliances, etc). Yeah and they aren’t pretty at all and they easily break. LOL.

Oh wow, the baskets are imported from the Philippines! That’s nice! πŸ˜€

  11. It looks fabulous, Gracielle! Next month we are repainting most of the first floor, including the entryway. I plan on revamping it a bit, and this was great inspiration. Thank you!
