Zavier will be 3 soon and he’s growing so fast, but I don’t think anyone really notices. He’ has been living happily in the shadow of his big sis Arielle. She’s can strike up a good conversation, she sings, she dances, and she recites lines from movies! The only song that Zavier knows is “Eenny meeny miny mo” (but his version goes something like, “meemmy meeemy meeemmy mo!”), he still wears a diaper, and he replaces every other word with “poo poo” and then bursts out laughing.
He also thinks he is a super hero. Whether its Batman, Superman, Spiderman – it really doesn’t matter because he refers to them all as “EEE-man!”
When he’s not saving the world, he’s totally a momma’s boy. He clings to me like a little monkey and if I’m not in his direct line of sight, he wanders around the house saying, “Mommy! Wheh aah oooh? …Mommy! MOMMY?!?!” The other week when I was sick, Jeff told A&Z that I turned into a zombie and not to enter my room. It worked and I was able to rest all morning. But sometime around 2 in the afternoon, Zavier snuck in my room, climbed onto my bed and whacked me in the stomach with his sword. It hurt a little, but I don’t blame him.
Recently, he’s starting to figure out that there’s more to life than just being with mommy and hanging out at home with his sis. He looks on from the waiting room as she twirls in ballet every week and sees that she gets to do a special activity on her own:
He waits patiently by the gates at the gymnastics facility, in case someone opens it wide enough for him to sneak through and he can have a turn.
He knows that Arielle goes to preschool every day and does exciting things, while he stays at home. Finally, he found enough words to tell me just what he thought about that. He cornered me while I was on the pot and I had no choice but to sit and listen to what he had to say:
Zavier: Where E-yell go?
Me: Arielle is going to school.
Zavier: I wan go, too!
Me: School? You’re too little, honey. Next year you can go.
Zavier: Me, too! I wan go skoo. (starts crying)
Later this month, Zavier is turning 3 and I enrolled him in preschool for this upcoming fall. Arielle didn’t start until she was 4, but Zavier is already showing signs that he is under-stimulated here at home. I actually took him to the school for registration and he really thought it was his first day of school and threw a tantrum when it was time to go home.
He’s also starting soccer a few days after he turns 3. So I guess that officially makes me a Soccer Mom? With a mini-van. OMG what is happening to me?
OK – wait. This post is about Zavier, not me. LOL
I think Zavier is ready for his life to begin and expand his horizons beyond Mommy/Daddy/Arielle/Coconut.
I think Zavier is a go-getter. He is curious. He is ready for his adventures to begin. And 3 is going to be an awesome year for my little man!
But first…he has to stop wearing diapers. LOL
At what age did you start to see your kids’ adventures begin?
xoxo // gracielle.
Three has been such a fun age!v We’re still in the first half and my son has some special needs, but it’s been beautiful to see his personality start to shine.

I’m looking forward to hearing more of what’s on his mind as he starts talking more. He’s a pretty chill little dude compared to his outgoing big sis, but he has a great sense of humor!
Oh he is so precious. I love that he knows what he wants and says it. That’s awesome. My son started wanting things at an early age too. He started a little preschool a little after 2, soccer at 3 and now is in Tae Kwon do, basketball and swimming. He knows what he wants and will negotiate until he gets it. It is one of my favorite traits.

Toddler negotiation is pretty one-sided – they always win! LOL Soccer was the only activity that was available outside of business hours for his age. I definitely want to put him in tae kwon do and swimming eventually. My husband wants him to do boxing when he’s a little older. No way, not with that face!
i totally want my own little mama’s boy!

Boys are so sweet. My daughter is sweet, too, but my son is the ultimate cuddler.
He is so cute. Reminds me of my Des, although Des isn’t so aware of school yet since he’s only 1.5. He’ll be going to all the schools Scarlet goes and he’s already so used to her classroom and teachers! And all of her classmates’ little siblings will be going when he goes!
Ah, so cute.
This is adorable!

I’m excited for Zavier to expand his horizons. Just need to work on that potty training thing..ugh!
I love all the superhero pictures! Batman looks so serious. My son was totally into superman. Aww, poor little guy… he just wants to go to school.

Zavier is such a cutie! My little guy {5} was the same way 🙂 He wanted to go to school with the girls and couldn’t wait for his turn. Now, he wants to be with me again… “I miss Mommy school”
He’s my spider monkey, as soon as he sees me after school he jumps on me like a little spider monkey yelling “Mommy!” He does this everyday; then he tells me he loves me as loud as he can with not caring who’s listening.
I hope he always does that.
Welcome to your big adventure Zavier 🙂 soccer will be fun!XOXO
Your son is super cute 🙂 Have you began potty training? My son hated school when he started, especially once we transferred to an 8 hour a day county – he was pissed for months. Now, he’s used to it and has fun, especially in the morning care since he gets to play with other kids. 🙂 Soccer is a blast though, my son is enrolled for his second year, let’s hope he starts to enjoy the actual games this season;he just likes to kick the ball around. 🙂 Have a great one Gracielle! -Iva

Yes, we’ve begun potty training. He only goes if I bribe him and currently he accepts to be paid in the form of jelly beans. He turns 3 on Sunday and starts soccer next Monday!

that’s adorable! my boys both like the word poop. C probably started replacing random words with “poop” and “butt” around that time. I thought it might have been something he picked up in preschool, but it seems it’s just inherent, haha.

The other day, I overheard my husband and Zavier in a conversation where every other word was “poop”. LOL At least I can pinpoint where he got that from. 🙂

It’s nice that Zavier already has great interests especially like going to school. My son is also turning 3 soonnn, like next month soon and he’s still wearing diapers *pressured*.. LOL. He reads books and then rips the pages after, basically he just wants to scribble and play more .He can’t speak a straight sentence yet and he does not really have a kid playmate. Hehe. You get to be a soccer mom, that’s so cool. Hoping to read more about Zavier’s progress since he’s just about the same age as my son. 🙂
Let me know how potty training goes! He finally started expressing interest in using the potty this week so we are going to try to ditch the diapers again and try the training pants. Wish us luck!
Both you kiddos are beautiful! I think the second child grows faster then the first born because the see their older sibling doing so many things. The just grow so darn quick!

Yes, I agree! That, and I don’t think I observe every tiny new thing he does as much as I did with my first child. I love seeing them interact and grow together…so sweet!
What a cutie! Poo is funny. For realz! And the potty is the best place for a conversation. Sounds like Zavier is going to enjoy interacting with the other kids in preschool and soccer.

He’s sooo ready! And turns out that Zavier and his daddy have entire conversations using only the word poop…so I know where his poo humor comes from. Lol
What a sweet post, Gracielle! Your little one is growing up and leaving the nest… a little. The pictures tell the story all by themselves!! I enrolled my son in pre-school for the fall too. He’ll only be 2.5, but I think he’s ready. I just hope I am by then:)

There’s no boobie at preschool! LOL aww he’ll be ready and you have about 6 months to mentally prepare for his first day! For me, that my 6 month deadline to get potty training complete. 🙂
My son wants to sit on the potty, but he won’t let me pull his pants down. I told him that’s not how it works, but he insists on remaining fully clothed. I’m hoping to learn from your experience, Gracielle. 🙂 I am really counting on you and Lil Z!

How ADORABLE. I think he IS a superhero! I remember when Bobby went through his big Spiderman phase. It lasted for about 2 years. It’s handy having a superhero around the house!!
I love that he can’t wait to go to school. He is a go getter!!
Love the picture of the whole family. You guys are just beautiful–inside and out. –Lisa
Thanks, Lisa! He melts my heart every day. One moment he’ll be a tough superhero, the next moment he’s in my arms like a sweet little angel. Have a great weekend!!
This is really cute! Stopping by from SITS.
Thanks for stopping by, Jenna!

He is the cutest little superhero ever! Both my daughters started preschool when they were 3, and as a preschool teacher, I’m sure Zavier will be ready when the time comes! 🙂

Zavier and I just visited Arielle today at school to help her celebrate her bday with her classmates. We had so much fun! Boy, those preschoolers have a lot of energy! I applaud you and all the preschool teachers for doing what you do. 🙂

I just want to squeeze him. I miss my little boy being that small and Z is so cute! Embrace the soccer mom life, Gracielle. It’s fun lol (Ha! I may be a soccer mom but I still don’t drive a minivan.) My husband thinks he’s going to take my Tundra and get me one though.

I have a love-hate relationship with my minivan. I love the storage and those sliding doors because it’s so convenient, but I feel like such a dork driving it around when I don’t have the kids with me. LOL
Aw! He’s so sweet. I bet he wants to go even the more since he sees his big sis go to school and do all the fun stuff that she is doing. I’ve heard siblings are like that. I wonder what it was like for my younger brother. He was only a year behind me though so we did so much together. He was doing most of what I was doing a year later and often times right with me. 🙂

He went to visit her at school today with me so we can help her celebrate her bday with her classmates. He LOVED it! He sat among the kids and sang along to the songs even if he didn’t know the words. It was priceless.

This is exactly how I feel about our son Cal, in the shadows of his big sis, Gwyn. Dance class is actually torture for he and I as he wants to be in the class with her, and I have to keep him out of the room. He is only two, but if he could go to preschool with his big sis, he so would! He’s ready NOW! Haha, another year….

I try to drop Zavier off at my in-laws house when Arielle has ballet. He’s too much of a trouble maker when he hangs out with me in the waiting area! They are doing their spring recital to Frozen’s “Let It Go” and he sings his heart out when he hears it. LOL
