The Ultimate Bloggers’ Christmas Wish List 2013

Bloggers thrive off of delivering great content to our readers, which means we have to bring our A-game when it comes to cooking, crafts, technology, fashion, photography, parenting, social media, or whatever our blog’s niche demands of us.  We can all use a little help from gadgets to make blogging and life a little easier or even spoil ourselves a bit.  We deserve it, right?  So, what better way to kick off the holiday shopping season with…

blogger christmas wish list 2013, gift ideas for bloggers, gift ideas for moms

I posted my 2012 wish list on my blog last year and then my husband, who is a very smart man, got me all the items in my wish list.  It was totally unexpected and I was super thrilled!  So my advice to you is to share, pin, tweet, or email your wish list as a gentle nudge to whoever your Secret or Not-So-Secret Santa is to increase your chances at finding all the your must-have goodies under the tree this year.

No matter what type of blogger you are – or even if you’re not a blogger – I’m sure you’ll fancy something on my list!  Here goes:

Gifts for the Mom Blogger

Mom Blogger Wish List, gifts for mom

  • Keurig Single Cup Coffee Maker – Is it just me, or does every mom blogger describe herself as a “coffee lover” in her bio?  The coffee maker in the kitchen is lovely, but how about this sweet little one in my room, next to my bed?  This just might resolve the war I have every morning with the snooze button.
  • Zagg iPad Keyboard – I actually got this last year for Christmas and LOVE IT.  It’s a sturdy case, plus it is so much easier to type on the keyboard rather than using the touch screen on the iPad.  I’ve only had to charge it once since last year.  I highly recommend.
  • Ugg Boots – I. just. can’t. stay. away. from. these. ugly. boots.  UGGH!  They’re so comfortable, warm, and easy to slip on during the snowy months.  No socks required!  If my feet had comfort food, these Uggs would be it.
  • Lap Desk – I catch up on responding to comments right before I go to bed.  The stack of pillows that I use to prop up my iPad is just not cutting it.  I would love to get a lap desk.  This one looks nice and sturdy – perhaps it could double as a tray for breakfast in bed?  A girl can dream, right?!
  • Reusable Tote Bag – Every mom needs a large tote bag to haul stuff – sports stuff, groceries, toys and clutter from the car, so on and so forth…
  • Travel mug – I take my coffee to go!  I throw mini-tantrums if my travel mug lets me down by leaking or not keeping it warm.  My tantrums typically end with me throwing it in the garbage.  I’m still on my quest to find the perfect travel mug.

Gifts for the Craft / DIY Blogger

Gifts for Craft DIY Blogger

  • Good lighting – Lighting is everything when it comes to DIY projects and crafting.  I’ve always wanted a drum chandelier for my mom-cave.  This might be a little too fancy, but isn’t it so shiny and pretty?!
  • Craft storage – Supplies for projects can get expensive, but a good DIY’er will save scraps for future projects.  That’s why a smart, organized storage solution is a must-have.
  • Sewing machine – Eh, I already got this last year and used it ONCE.  I can’t get the darn lower bobbin thread to come up.   But my failure shouldn’t stop you from pursuing your sewing aspirations. So go ahead, add this to your list!
  • Craft table – I do all my crafts on my kitchen table because the office desk is too small.  I want to have a large surface where I won’t feel guilty if it gets a little dirty (i.e., we won’t be eating dinner on that same exact table where I spilled mod podge…eek!)
  • A year’s supply of wooden palettes, mod podge, mason jars, and chalkboard paint – If you have these items in stock, then I bet you can tackle just about every craft/DIY project out there on Pinterest!  You might want throw some fresh lavender in the mix, and you’ll even have enough to make your own soap, detergent, and lotion.

Gifts for the Fashion/Beauty Blogger

Gifts for Fashion Beauty Blogger, beauty gift ideas,

  • Plaid shirt – Doesn’t it look so cozy and warm?  A plaid shirt has been on my list for quite some time now, ever since my last great shopping experience.  It would look great paired up with skinny jeans, boots, and a bun!
  • Sweater – Any sweater will do, as long as it is a little loose and has polka dots.  The polka dots make me happy, I can’t explain why.
  • Chunky scarf – yes, please!  It’ll keep me warm during the harsh Chicagoland winters.  Plus, it turns any plain shirt into a trendy fashion statement when worn indoors.
  • Leather leggings – It doesn’t have to be all leather , just leather cutouts will do!  (I think of Ross in that one episode of Friends when the leather pants got stuck to his legs – yeah, you know the one!)  When worn with a chunky sweater or a blazer, the leather leggings would make any plain outfit edgy and sexy.  Worn with black booties with heels….guuuurrrl, don’t get me started!
  • Make-up brushes – A good set of brushes make a huge difference when applying make-up!  I have a brush that I remember buying when I was in 7th grade – almost 20 years ago!  I’m just about due for a new set.
  • Fleece-lined leggings – I’m OBSESSED with these!  They are so soft and warm, I actually look forward to wearing dresses and skirts even though it’s cold outside.  I have one pair so far and I want 3 or 4 more.  You know, in case anyone starts to notice that I’m wearing the same leggings over and over again…eeewww!

Gifts for the Photography Blogger

Gifts for Photography BloggerNote: I don’t consider myself a photographer, but I have labeled myself as mommy-razzi.  LOL

  • dSLR Camera – These things cost a pretty penny, but it is soooo worth it!  (If you figure out how to use it, that is!)  Snapping away with a regular point-and-view camera or from your smart phone is fine, especially with the different  photo editing apps; however, they have their limits.
  • 50mm Lens – This is the trick to getting those portrait shots when the subject is super clear and the background is blurry.  It’s not just the camera, it’s the lens!  My soon-to-be famous photographer friend let me borrow his 50mm f/1.4 lens and I loved the results it produced.  It’s so expensive, but my dad was nice enough to let me have his 50mm f/1.8 lens (similar results at half the cost).
  • In-home photo studio – I got this as a surprise gift last year from my hubs.  I didn’t know I wanted it, but I LOVE it!  I don’t have to pay for studio portrait sessions for my kids when I can just do it at home.
  • Camera bag – All the camera bags out there are so boring and masculine, but Golla makes really cute cross-body camera bags that hold my dSLR 2 lenses, and other accessories.
  • Tripod – I use this for my in-home photography sessions and to take selfies.  I don’t have to ask my husband to take my picture if I want to blog about an outfit I’m wearing!  LOL
  • PicMonkey (not shown) – I would love a year’s subscription to the online photo editing app.  I use the free version and it’s great, but when I get blocked from using the “royal” features I throw my palm to my forehead and exclaim, “DOH!” It happens quite often.

Gifts for the Cooking Blogger

Gifts for Cooking Baking Blogger, gifts for cook, baker gift ideas

This is probably a weak sauce list for the Cooking/Baking Bloggers out there.  Sorry!  This is soooo not up my alley.  The only thing I baked on this blog was actually a “no bake” recipe, and my most popular food post was on my epic chocolate cake fail.  BUT perhaps I would make an excellent food blogger if I had the proper tools at my disposal:
  • Cute measuring cups and spoons – If they are that adorable, I might be more motivated to actually use them.
  • Kitchen Aid Mixer – I don’t really know what this does besides mix things, but it would look GREAT in my kitchen!
  • Apron – I guess this would give me a boost of confidence and make me feel like a legit baker.
  • Pretty platter – Even if it doesn’t taste good, it doesn’t mean it can’t look pretty sitting on a fancy platter.  This would also make for a great Pinterest shot, wouldn’t it?
  • Sifter – When I have the slightest inspiration to bake something as I’m reading through blogs and cookbooks, all my hopes are shattered when the instructions call for a sifter.  Why don’t I own one of these??!!

So there you have it, my bloggy friends.  I hope you found something to add to your Christmas Wish List this year.  Is there anything in particular you have on your list that I didn’t cover?  I’d love to hear it!

Don’t forget to follow my Pinterest board for a recap of all the items on the Ultimate Bloggers’ Wish List 2013.

xoxo // gracielle.

  1. This is the most thorough list ever! I’m a photography blogger and even I don’t have everything you mentioned. I do have the 50mm 1.4 lens, though, and I’ve grown to love it most. I do want the fancy lights!

    • Do it! You should highlight the top 3-5 so he knows which ones to get. I find that husbands respond better the more specific you are. LOL Have a great Thanksgiving!

  12. Awesome list!! I have been looking at that iPad keyboard. I may just have to get it now! And that desk/table with the cubbies in the sides!?!??! I have to have it!! Where is it from???
Rabia @TheLiebers recently posted…“When” A “To Do” App {Review}My Profile

    • Thanks, Rabia! You should seriously get that iPad keyboard. I’m still amazed that I’ve only had to charge it once since I got it last year! The craft table with the cubbies on the side – the one pictured is from Target, but I don’t think they carry it anymore. I recently saw one in espresso at Big Lots for $299. Yeah, that’s pretty high on my wish list, so I’ve been stalking it BIG TIME.

  13. Is it bad that I want them all! Love the beautiful food mixer. I would also add a silhouette machine or similar, I keep seeing beautiful things people make with them and my scissors seem a little bit old school now!
