Arielle’s Cute Summer Clothes – H&M vs Kmart

Miss Arielle got a cute summer wardrobe!  We thought she had a ton of clothes, but after spring cleaning and putting away her winter outfits and outgrown items – she really didn’t have much left.  This year we skipped the big birthday parties and took A&Z to Wisconsin Dells to celebrate, which is usually when we get lots of birthday presents to replenish her spring/summer wardrobe.

So her fairy godmother, my sis Christine, treated her to a ton of cute summer clothes from H&M.  I liked the summer dresses, pastel colors, and the reasonable prices:

  • Dress: $5
  • Shirts: 3-pack for $9 @ buy 2 get one free
  • Leggings: 2-pack for $11 @ buy 2 get one free
  • Shorts: $8

Check out Arielle modeling her H&M outfits:

4t H&M, little girl summer wardrobe 4tI love how they are super cute, yet casual enough for everyday or for playing outside.  She’s a 4T and they seemed to fit just right, with some room to grow over the summer.

A few days later, I went over to Kmart for a special event for work and stumbled upon their kids’ clothing department.  I was shocked at how cute and girly their selection was…and super cheap!  I know that really shouldn’t be a surprise for me because I work at Sears and Kmart, but I mostly shop at the Corporate Sample Store or at Sears…Kmart is kinda out of the way for me, so I don’t really shop there.  So I went a little nuts and bought more things for Arielle in addition to what my sis bought her:

  • Shirts, Skirts, Pants, and Shorts (mix & match): 3 for $12, or 3 for $9.  All items on one fixture was 3 for $12 and there was another fixture where items were 3 for $9.  I just kept grabbing stuff – 2 shirts + 1 pants here, 2 shorts + 1 tank there…and they all matched, which means less thinking was required from me. (Yay!)

Arielle was happy to be my Kmart model as well:Arielle Kmart

I thought the prices were a bit better and the assortment was a lot cuter than H&M.  For example, the shirts had tulle embellishments whereas H&M had plain t-shirts and HELLO – gold zebra-striped sparkle shorts!  Where were those in MY size?  The only thing was that their sizes ran big for 4T – so that floral skirt was looking droopy and the yellow skinny jeans were big around the waistline.

{Round of applause goes to for our little model, Miss Arielle Rose!}

P.S. Arielle loves to pose and she does it naturally, which makes my job as mommy-razzi super easy!  Although, it’s hard to get a candid shot out of her these days.  Check out this video I took of her earlier today of her riding her scooter (garage sale find $10 – woot!).  She was scooting along her merry way, and then when she realized that I was recording her she started posing for the camera:

She’s my little star and always a charm!

Hope you enjoyed.  Where do you go to find cute summer clothes for your kids?

  1. Arielle’s new outfits really are super cute. Great finds. My sister took her little boy to the Dells for his birthday celebration this year too. She thought he was getting too spoiled with all the toys.

    • Thanks so much for stopping by! My kids loved the Dells and appreciated it way more than another toy so it worked out pretty well. Plus, their bdays usually fall around spring break time so it’ll be easy to plan for bday trips as they get older!

  2. Super cute finds there! 🙂 I love getting cute clothes for summer without breaking the bank! :)-Ashley

  3. Super cute! I love everything that she got! My son is turning 4 in a few weeks. Almost all of his wardrobe is LL Bean, JCrew, Gap, Mini Boden, Old Navy pieces that I’ve thrifted. We’ve got an amazing Savers here and I haven’t paid more than three bucks for anything! I’m stopping by today via the sharefest.

  4. She is such a cutie! I love her outfits, can’t believe they were so cheap. I wish my daughter would pose like she does, she makes a grouchy face every time she thinks I’m gonna take her picture, lol!

Oh and in reply to your comment on my book review, yes Tinky is a Shih Tzu. 🙂

  6. I love both but H and M seems to have better boy clothes for me. Kmart rocks for girls things especially in their jewelry section. Stopping by from SitsSharefest

  7. Anything will look fabulous if you have a great model like Arielle. She can make anything look like high end designer brand and sell it.
