This sweet little Peep and its eggs have their own little nest just in time for Easter! It was super easy to make and a fun activity for A&Z in lieu of egg decorating. Well, that is – until they realized that the grass and the eggs were edible…it was all downhill from there. Here’s how:
Ingredients
- 1 package Jell-O No-bake Cheesecake Mix
- 1 package of Peeps
- 1 bag of edible candy Easter grass
- 2 packages of Keebler Ready Crusts (comes in a pack of 6 mini graham cracker pie crusts)
- Jelly beans
1. Prepare the cheesecake as directed and spoon into mini-pie crusts
Just prepare the cheesecake portion of the Jell-O package as directed. Meaning, just add milk and stir. LOL No need to prepare the crust that comes with the Jell-O package since the mini-pie crusts already contain the crust. I guess I could have bought mini-pie holders and made the crust myself, but the Keebler Ready Crusts were only $1. If it’s cheap and convenient, I win. Plus, I can save the Jell-O crust for future baked goods. I win again! 🙂
Then, spoon the cheesecake into the mini pie crust. I leveled off each mini-pie and 1 package of Jell-O cheesecake yielded 8 mini-pies. So I was left with 4 extra mini-pies. Sigh. I don’t see this as a win, just excess and waste. Kind of like the 8 hot dogs to 6 bun ratio – the uneven ratio just bothers me. Maybe because I’m a Libra.
Anyway… Let it sit in the fridge for 1 hour.
2. Top with candy grass, Peeps, and jelly beans
Sprinkle the mini-cheesecake with grass. You might have to cut the grass first – no lawnmower required! You can easily tear it with your fingers. Then, arrange the Peep and the eggs on top! This is the fun part where the kids can get involved.
3. Protect the Peeps (Optional)
If your kids are anything like mine and love sweets, it’ll only be a matter of time before they realize that the decorations are edible and yummy. Keep the Peeps and their new mini-cheesecake homes out of harm’s way until the Easter celebrations begin. Enjoy!
Oh my goodness, how cute are these?!! If I had little ones I would definitely make these. Sharing!
